Getting started with Aevocam

What is Aevocam?

Aevocam is a cloud platform for long‑term condition monitoring (LTCM). You connect Internet‑enabled cameras you already own, schedule them to send periodic still images, and Aevocam stores, organizes, and makes it fast to review months or years of visual history. It’s not a security DVR replacement; it’s for spotting and proving slow changes over time. See the overview on our home page and a deeper explanation in How Aevocam works .

What you’ll need

  • One or more cameras that can capture still photos on a fixed schedule (daily is a great starting point).
  • The ability for your camera to upload snapshots — most commonly via FTP using a “programmed capture” or “scheduled upload” feature. Many outdoor cameras advertise IP65/IP66 ratings and work well for this purpose.
  • A stable Internet connection for each camera.

Step 1 — Create your account

  • Sign up for Aevocam and provide a payment method when requested.
  • Verify your email to unlock all features.

Step 2 — How billing works for your first month

  • The base subscription for your first month is post‑paid: we charge the base monthly subscription at the end of that initial month rather than up front.
  • You will only be charged the base monthly fee for that first month if your account remains active at the time we perform the end‑of‑month billing. If you cancel before the billing date you will not be charged the base monthly fee for that first month.
  • Usage fees (image ingest and storage) are calculated during the month and are billed on the standard cycle described on our Subscription plans page.

Clear wording example:

  • If you sign up and later decide to cancel before the first monthly billing date, you will not be charged the base monthly subscription for that initial month. If you keep the account active through the billing date, the base monthly fee for that month will be charged.

Tip: Start with a small pilot (e.g., 1–3 cameras at 1 photo/day) to get familiar with review tools and retention settings before scaling up.

Step 3 — Create your first feed

  • In Aevocam, add a new feed and give it a clear name (e.g., “North Lot — Light Pole 3”).
  • Aevocam provides upload credentials for that feed. Keep them handy — you’ll enter them into your camera next.

Step 4 — Configure your camera to upload

  • On your camera, enable scheduled still‑image capture and set an interval (daily, or a few times per day for most cases).
  • Configure FTP upload using the host, username, and password from your feed. Many cameras label this "FTP upload," "programmed capture," or "snapshot to FTP."
  • Save the settings and wait for your first images to arrive.

Step 5 — Verify and review

  • Open the feed in the Aevocam viewer to confirm images are arriving.
  • Use the timeline scrubber to jump through days, weeks, or months; zoom into areas of interest; and play forward or in reverse like a time‑lapse.

Step 6 — Tune retention and costs

  • Adjust culling and retention policies to keep the most meaningful snapshots while controlling storage growth.
  • Add teammates or vendors with the right level of access so the right people can see what they need without changing settings.

Pricing and billing highlights

  • See current rates and what’s included on Subscription plans . Prices are shown in USD.
  • First month: the base subscription for your initial month is billed at the end of that month (post‑paid). You will be charged only if the account remains active at billing time; cancel before the billing date to avoid the base fee for that month.
  • Ongoing months: the base subscription is billed at the beginning of each month; any usage beyond what’s included is billed on the standard cycle detailed on the pricing page.
