General
What is Aevocam?
Aevocam (pronounced eye-voh-cam) is an intuitive and powerful cloud-based platform that uses timelapse photography to help you see and track change over weeks, months, and years.
Why choose Aevocam?
Aevocam helps you see slow problems early, document them clearly, and act before they become emergencies. Its ability to mitigate risk has great potential across many verticals in industries like real estate, property management, utilities, agribusiness, public infrastructure, and construction.
While other systems make you choose between visibility and history, Aevocam lets you keep both. Your visual archive grows. Your institutional memory grows. Your ability to answer "what changed?" grows.
How does Aevocam work?
Aevocam ingests low-frequency still images at modest resolution from security cameras via FTP/HTTP protocols. It delivers economically viable long-term retention and predictable storage growth in a way that traditional video cannot.
Aevocam offers full client control of image frequency, resolution, and retention horizon; a compounding value curve; and predictable linear growth of costs. It is priced so that you can afford to remember -- every day, for years -- without thinking about it.
Hardware
Are there any specific brands of cameras that you'd recommend for use with the Aevocam platform?
Most Internet-connected (IP) cameras will work with Aevocam. Regardless of the camera you choose (or already have), the higher the resolution of the images that you send us, the better.
We are not endorsing (nor being paid to endorse) any particular brand, but we do like the Foscam brand of cameras. Other brands worth considering include aosu, ANRAN, DEKCO, EZVIZ, Rocktone, and Tapo. Regardless of the make and model you choose, it must offer programmed capture (the ability to automatically record images at pre-scheduled intervals and upload those snapshots via FTP).
I want to add more cameras to my locations soon. Can Aevocam keep up with my hardware upgrades?
Yes, absolutely! Aevocam has been designed as a forward-looking, highly scalable platform with baseline support for active photos. It has the ability to run an unlimited number of ingest processors--in parallel, if needed.
I want to move a camera from one unit to another unit or to a different location within the same unit, but I don't want to change the settings on the camera. Can I do this?
Yes. The username contains the feed ID. Aevocam gives you the ability to "redirect" from one feed ID to another feed ID. This means that you would create a new feed from an existing one, so you can keep all the same settings (but it would have a new numeric ID). Subsequent photos would go to that new feed instead of the old feed.
You would unplug the cam (have it sit for a few days in a closet). Then, get ready to redeploy it in a new unit (or a new place). Go to the console and create the new feed. The old feed is now essentially dead. No more photos will be uploaded from it. There's no physical change to the camera (the only change would be made via the web app).
Now you can track each event with its own unique feed ID.
The other option you could pursue would be to have a roving camera mode oriented towards this workflow.
What if my camera gets damaged? Do I have the ability to replace with a new camera, but keep the old feed ID?
Yes. Aevocam will eventually have AI that detects significant changes that mark new epochs of a feed (e.g. if someone zooms the camera once and doesn't change it back, or if there's a new camera).
Software
My camera already has its own software app to upload images to a cloud. How do I get Aevocam to work with my camera?
Here are the configuration protocols you'll need to upload your images to the Aevocam platform. ** JC TO PROVIDE SPECIFICS **
Image
What image formats does Aevocam accept?
Most cameras will send JPGs. If they are not JPGs, then Aevocam will convert them to JPG format and save them for our own use. The Aevocam platform supports JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, AVIF (8-bit depth), TIFF, SVG, HEIF/HEIC, JP2, JXL, DZI, and RAW.
What image quality should I upload to Aevocam?
Send us the highest quality images you can obtain from your cameras when you FTP them to us. We’ll decide whether to retain them as they are, or compress them further.
Do you prefer images from multiple cameras or images from a single camera?
Each camera should be a separate feed. Fixed cameras are highly recommended. If you have a remotely operated camera that can be panned and zoomed, your staff should not do so if they are making double use of those cameras for live security and Aevocam purposes.
Can I send you video footage from my camera(s) instead of photos?
Please don't. Aevocam has been designed to accept only photos (stills).
Who culls the images that get sent to Aevocam? The client (me) or Aevocam?
There are two types of culling processes: short-term and long-term.
The short-term culling process is automated on Aevocam’s end. Let's say you define 9am, 1pm, and 4pm time slots, with the intention of having 3 photos each day. But the camera is sending photos once every minute. Starting from midnight, the photos get ignored. The first photo to arrive at or after 9am will go into the 9am slot. Even if it's 10:30am when it arrives. So long as it does not arrive after 1pm. At or after that time, the first photo to arrive will go into that slot. Once a time slot is filled by a photo, no other photo will replace it. There is a little more to time slots than that, but that's the basic algorithm.
The default long-term retention policy is to keep all the remaining images that have not been culled. The client (you) would have to configure culling.
You may change long-term retention policy at any time, as many times as you like.
Whenever you change the long-term retention policy, the Aevocam platform will send you email notifications of the change for your records.
Does Aevocam offer any other services other than the ability to archive my images on a long-term basis?
We are considering offering cold storage options. Clients will pay storage fees for the photos that get culled, and they can retrieve those photos later, but Aevocam will offer a discounted price for cold storage as well. Clients may opt to cull some photos permanently (e.g. delete everything but one time slot) while simply culling to cold storage all the others (e.g. keep Mondays “hot” and the other 6 days’ photos “cold”).
With the ability to retain images over a long period or multiple periods of time (i.e. 1-year/5-years/10-years, etc.), Aevocam can also offer clients long-term timelapse as an additional service.
Does Aevocam offer a guarantee in the event that my uploaded images are lost or corrupted due to a catastrophic event?
Cloud-based data is stored across many drives that are regularly backed up, checked for integrity, and replaced when needed.
How secure and protected is my data from hackers and unauthorized individuals?
To see your photos, you have to log into the Aevocam app via your user account. The Aevocam platform has also been designed so that clients can give more fine-grained (limited) permissions to their own users to see only some feeds.
Subscription
I've subscribed to the Aevocam service in the middle of the month. Will I be charged the full amount for that month?
You will be prorated for your first month’s of service if you start on any day other than the first of the month plus anything over that gets billed as overage on the first day of the following month. Thereafter, the payment for the subsequent months is due at the start of each month (i.e. Aevocam employs a 1st-of-the-month billing cycle).
What methods of payment does Aevocam offer?
We accept payments made online with major credit cards (AMEX, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, VISA) as well as alternative payment methods like Apple Pay and Google Pay, via Stripe.
What subscription plans does Aevocam offer?
Aevocam offers plans geared to your organizational needs, based on its size and number of physical locations. See this article here for specifics. All subscription plans are expressed in USD (US dollars).

How long will the beta testing program last?
We are looking at 6 months.
